You don’t need more insight.
You need a different experience.

Together, we’ll slow things down - so something new can begin to happen.

Somatic Psychotherapy in New York

You might be a good fit for this work if:

  • You’ve done therapy before but still feel stuck

  • You understand your patterns - but they keep repeating

  • You’re high-functioning on the outside, but overwhelmed internally

  • You feel disconnected from yourself or your body

  • You want real change, not just insight

  • You’re open to slowing down and trying something different

Somatic Psychotherapy for Trauma, Chronic Illness, Grief and Life Transitions

I’m Abri Bernstein, a somatic psychotherapist based in New York. I offer a warm, grounded space to support you in feeling supported, seen, safe and present.

There Is Nothing To Fix

If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, it can start to feel like something is wrong with you.

There isn’t.

Often, these are intelligent patterns your nervous system developed to help you get through something difficult.

This isn’t about talking in circles - it’s about creating real change.

We slow things down and understand those patterns, building a more compassionate relationship with them - so you can feel more present, more connected, and less stuck.

This might look like noticing what happens in your body in a moment of anxiety, and staying with it in a new way.

My work is informed by training in developmental trauma, chronic stress, and complex PTSD - supporting you in finding your way back to yourself and your life. We move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive which is unique to each person each session.

I can’t recommend Abri enough! She not only has a genuine and approachable demeanor but also explains her work in ways that deeply resonate with someone unfamiliar with somatic psychotherapy and related therapies. I’ve gained a richer understanding of myself and developed different ways to interpret and articulate my feelings and experiences.

“There's an alchemy that happens when working with Abri, unlike anything I've experienced with other therapists. As a highly sensitive person newly diagnosed with chronic illness, Abri has been an invaluable support as I learn to navigate uncertain terrain. It feels deeply nourishing to learn about myself, while also feeling the beautiful energy of her support. Not only does she bring insight, depth, and curiosity to each session, she brings enthusiasm. What a gift! Abri is leading me into a deeper experience of my life, which is exactly what I've been looking for.”  - Anonymous
